My Story

I’m Sue O’Callaghan, and I live with my husband in beautiful Motueka, 30 minutes out of Nelson, NZ. I am ‘mum’ to a 28 yr old daughter and ‘nana’ to four lovely grandchildren who live in Christchurch.



I am also 'adopted mother' to Phoebe, our very ordinary moggie, who keeps me company during the day.

We moved to the Nelson area just over 6 years ago for a lifestyle change and just love it here. With a view like this from my back deck, it’s a joy to work from home. We live in a beautiful part of NZ with an abundance of birdlife, beaches, golden sands, walking and cycling tracks, vineyards and all the fresh fruit and veggies you need.

Living so close to the water with a view to the mountains has always been a dream on mine and we cherish the times our grandchildren visit. We love fishing over the road, kayaking on the estuary, fossicking for shellfish, bike riding and baking with the little ones.







My background history


In my early 20’s I took off to Australia for a working holiday, and stayed for 20 yrs. During that time I married, our daughter was born, and between us, my husband and I had a few businesses of our own. I also dabbled in a few direct selling and party plan companies selling everything from Tupperware, cosmetics to women’s clothing.

Toward the end of my time in Australia, I worked in Michael Hill store and after spending some time there, I also worked in a Diamondtime Showcase Jewellers. On our return to NZ in 2000, I was a rep for a gold chain company for a short time before being offered to run a jewellery kiosk in one of the malls in ChCh. Eventually I purchased this business and the ‘jewellery bug’ has been with me ever since.

Part of the lifestyle change was a desire to work from home and so in September '07 Adorabella Jewellery was born. Previously in ChCh, we had a jewellery retail kiosk in one of the large shopping centres, and that was not an option I wanted to persue again with all the 7 day trading, late night shopping, public holidays, crowds etc.

Many years ago I had been involved in party plan selling which I really enjoyed and so I decided that Adorabella Jewellery was going to be a party plan business. Not only would it mean that I could work when and were I wanted, it meant that I could control my own destiny, have holidays and days off when I choose, I could earn as much or as little as I wanted, and I get to work with a product I have had a passion for, for many years.

To all of the lovely ladies that I have meet, I want to thank you for your business and especially to those who have invited me into their homes and hosted a party for me, a special thank you goes out to you.
